The Golden Essence of Chopal

At Maraog Dairy, we believe that great ghee starts long before the flame touches the butter. It begins in the high-altitude meadows of Chopal, where our Indigenous Pahari Cows graze on mineral-rich herbs and mountain flora.

Since 2021, we have preserved the traditional art of ghee-making to bring you a product that is pure, medicinal, and deeply aromatic.

The Maraog Process: From Meadow to Jar

We don't use industrial shortcuts. Our ghee is made using the Traditional Bilona-inspired Method:

  • Ethical Milking: We ensure the calf is well-fed before we take the milk.

  • Natural Fermentation: The A2 milk is set into curd overnight.

  • Slow Churning: The curd is churned to separate the makkhan (butter).

  • Slow-Fire Clarification: The butter is clarified over a low flame, allowing the moisture to evaporate and the nutrients to lock in, resulting in a rich, granular (danedar) texture.

Health Benefits of Pahari A2 Ghee

Because our cows graze on wild Himalayan herbs, their milk—and subsequently our ghee—is a powerhouse of nutrition:

  • Rich in CLA: Known to aid metabolism and heart health.

  • High Smoke Point: Perfect for sautéing and deep frying without breaking down into toxins.

  • Butyric Acid: Supports gut health and reduces inflammation.

  • Vitamin Powerhouse: Packed with fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.

A Note on Texture: Our ghee is naturally granular (Danedar) and has a deep yellow hue—a testament to the high Beta-Carotene content from the fresh green grass of Himachal.

How to Enjoy It

  • Traditional: Drizzle over hot dal, rotis, or khichdi.

  • Wellness: Consume a spoonful on an empty stomach with warm water for digestive health.
